UF LOCATION GUIDE
uf location guide
Below is a comprehensive list of my favorite spots to take photos on campus, as well as the times during the day that I would suggest visiting. Feel free to pick your own spots as well, I always love finding a new location!
Keep in mind, I don’t charge per location, so as long as it fits within our booking time, the session locations can be flexible!
Also, it’s important to remember that UF’s campus is quite large, and it can take some time to move from somewhere as far as Ben Hill Griffin Stadium to the UF Arch on 13th and University Ave!
UF Arch
Time: Evening
Since this location is right on the east edge of UF’s campus, the morning sun can be harsh!
plaza of the americas
Plaza of the Americas is such a large area, that it features many iconic locations of the UF campus within a short walk of each other. Depending on timing and wait times in this area, we might be able to fit in a few areas in a short amount of time!
Plaza of the Americas walkway
Time: Morning/Evening
Plaza of the Americas is one of my favorite spots on UF’s campus because of the tree cover and greenery. This spot is perfect between locations, and can have great lighting most of the day!
Plaza bench
Time: Morning / Evening
While the image above was taken in the evening, it depends how much cloud cover we have, and cover from the trees! A hidden gem in the Plaza of the Americas
Plaza alleyway
Time: Evening
The images above were taken moments before sunset during golden hour. This spot is a great place if we’re already visiting Plaza of the Americas and either finishing the session, or heading towards Murphree or Gatorwalk! (As long as it’s not during class change)
Murphree/Thomas hall
Time: Morning/Evening
Since the arch covers where you’ll be standing, this archway is perfect most times of the day.
Something to keep in mind, this location only allows for one graduate at a time, which means we’ll have to be respectful if other people are waiting in line. This spot can also attract a lot of grads and can have a long wait time!
GATORWALK
Time: Morning/evening
Gatorwalk is the most popular place (and most recognizable area) on UF’s campus. During the later weeks of the semester, Gatorwalk can be PACKED and lead to some long wait times. I’d usually suggest starting a session here, or ending here with enough time to allow for enough wait times towards the busy season
Gatorwalk Gator
Time: Morning or Evening
The Gatorwalk Gator can be paired well with a visit to Gatorwalk because it is right at the north end of the stadium outside. As long as it isn’t midday, this area is a great pitstop before or after Gatorwalk
THE STADIUM
The Stadium is extremely iconic inside and out. Due to this fact, it can be quite busy at some of these locations closer to the ends of the semester!
Keep in mind, visiting the stadium (as well as any other location on campus) is never a given and it often closes without warning. While this is a favorite of mine on campus, it can be difficult to make sure that we make it inside!
The Stands
Time: Morning/Evening
This spot depends on the area in the stands. If you’d like “THIS IS THE SWAMP”, an evening session will allow us to be in the shade. However, morning sessions can take advantage of the corner that says “THIS IS GATOR COUNTRY”!
The field
Time: Evening
If a session starts at sunrise, the field will have a large area under the shade until about 8am/9am. After 5:30pm, the shade will come back leaving most of the field covered near sunset!
gator tunnel
Time: Evening
While this spot is great morning or night because it blocks the sun, I’ve found that the best photos come from the evening after the sun has fallen below the stadium seats. This means the least amount of orange light in the photo, and a much more enjoyable experience!
Bull gator
Time: Sunset
Mornings can be a bit difficult around the Bull Gator, but if necessary the sun will just be directly behind you. The closer to sunset, the softer the light and the better these photos will be!
aLBERT AND ALBERTA
Time: Evening
Since Albert and Alberta are wedged right next to the Alumni Hall, sunset is a great time for a session here. Up to you how up close and personal you’d like to get with the statues
bull gator
Time: Very early morning / close to sunset
Bull Gator can be tricky because there’s not much to shade from the sun. But, if we start at this location early enough or close enough to sunset, buildings nearby provide some nice shade!
